Charter for the Guild of Alchemists

Version 1.0

Purpose of the Guild

The purpose of the guild shall be to:

  • Form a group of people with a shared interest in the pre-1600CE sciences and medical practices and theories.
  • Encourage interest in the research and practice of the pre-1600CE sciences and medicine.
  • Educate, encourage, and foster an awareness of science and medicine within the populace.

Membership of the Guild

Becoming a member is not required to practice the sciences and medicine within the Known World, as anyone may become a member of the guild by asking the Guild Clerk (via electronic, written, or verbal communication) at Alchemist.guild.lochac@gmail.com.

Membership in the guild allows easier access and sharing of information and ideas for all members, with no obligation other than the desire to accumulate and share scientific and medical knowledge.

The Guild Clerk (AKA Chief Alchemist)

The Guild Clerk is the administrative head of the guild and should be a guild member in good standing.

They’re responsible for advancing and coordinating the process of electing their successor (see below); altering the charter; administrating the online presence of the Guild; and reporting the status of the Guild to the Kingdom Minister of Arts & Sciences.

The Chief Alchemist may appoint deputies as needed to support them in their duties.

Election of the Guild Clerk / Alteration of the Guild Charter

Election of a Guild Clerk or the alteration of the Guild Charter shall be a vote of the Guild members following a notice period of no less than 4 weeks. If the Guild Clerk is unable to fulfil their duties, the members of the guild may consult the Kingdom Minister of Arts and Sciences to manage the transition to a new Guild Clerk.

Guild Elevation and Ranks

Guild members may choose to or not to participate in increasing rank within the Guild. Ranks in the Guild are recognised levels that are achieved for activities and accomplishments that embody the Guild’s mission. This includes researching, teaching and demonstrating the pre-1600CE sciences and medicine; practicing of medical aid and promote the Guild mission and its tenets.

Behaviour of the Guild
  • The behaviour of all guild members should always be respectful and courteous to each other and everyone we interact with.
  • While differences of opinion have always existed within the science world, bullying and derogatory behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated.
